Coming to the Cross

Coming to the Cross. The Prayer of Salvation.

Faith in Jesus Christ

Coming to the Cross is about finding a relationship with God. You see, Jesus laid down His life for us. He paid a debt we could never pay, for a debt He didn’t owe. Jesus’ love and obedience lead Him to the Cross at Calvary where He gave up His life willingly to set us free. It’s at the Cross we surrender ourselves to Jesus Christ, saying, “I will follow You..”

As humans, we all fall short of the Glory of God. None of us are perfect – no matter how hard we try. There’s nothing we can do to earn our way into Heaven. If you are new to faith or maybe contemplating about accepting Jesus Christ, it is not a coincidence you stumbled onto this website.

The Prayer of Salvation is a life choice. It’s a heart felt conversation between you and God. More than just words, it’s a testimony of faith and belief. It’s about surrendering yourself over to Christ and having God rule in your heart. Asking for forgiveness for the life you want to leave behind. To become a new creation in Christ.

The price has been paid so you can be free. All can be forgiven. There’s nothing God hasn’t heard or seen. You may think your situation is different, but it’s not. If you think your unworthy, your wrong. All sin is measured the same in God’s eyes. None of us deserve salvation, yet the gift is given freely to all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8,9

Having a relationship with God means to believe, and have faith, in Jesus Christ. Believing, Jesus is God in the Flesh who gave His life as a ransom to save yours. If you want to ask Jesus to be in your life, but you are not quite sure what to say, hopefully the words below will help you initiate a conversation.

Praying to God for Salvation

Praying to God can be tough, especially if you are new to praying. There’s the feeling of nervousness, wondering if God is really listening. Then, the uncomfortable feeling of talking to someone you can’t see. Digging deep inside and sharing your inner most feelings. It’s not only awkward, but it can also be scary.

Believe me when I say, it’s only like that at first. It does get easier. With each prayer, the walls come down and the anxiety slips away. Before long, prayers turn into conversations and you will find yourself talking about anything and everything. The dialog between you and God will become fluid and natural. Much like talking to a best friend or loved one about your day. I find myself sometimes lost in conversation with God, as I am talking to my Father about my day. Just thanking Him for what’s He’s doing in my life. And that’s how it should be. God is always listening and the more we spend time in His presence, the closer we will become with the Father.

Now, if you have not received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, but you want to experience God’s grace. If you want to find your way to the Cross, I have written a prayer below.

Prayer

God, I want to know You. I have lived my life separated from You and I ask for your forgiveness.  For the mistakes I have made and for believing in the world – seeking myself over You.

God, I believe Jesus is Your Son. Who came to earth as God in the flesh and lived a sinless life which none of us can do. Who went to the Cross, carrying the sins of the world, including my own. I believe Jesus paid the sin debt I could never pay and died in my place.

God, I believe Jesus was buried in the tomb and resurrected from the grave, conquering death. I ask You Lord to come into my heart, to make me a new creation. To live inside me and allow others to see You through me. I surrender myself to You and want my life to be a reflection of You.

Thank you Lord for Your Mercy and Grace. For hearing my prayer and coming into my life. I pray these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
